Inland Empire AC Maintenance: A Realistic Cadence

A SoCal AC system in Riverside is doing more work in a year than the same system in Encinitas does in three.

Inland Empire summers regularly hold 100°F+ for weeks. That kind of sustained run-time stresses every component — capacitors, contactors, blower motors, refrigerant charge — in a way the coast simply doesn't.

The cadence that pays off

  • March or April: full pre-season tune-up. Capacitor microfarads, contactor condition, refrigerant pressures, condenser cleaning, blower amp draw.
  • Monthly during cooling season: filter check.
  • October: brief furnace check before first cold nights.

The single biggest preventable failure inland is a weak capacitor on the hottest day of the year. A tune-up that catches it costs $20–$60 in parts and avoids a $400 emergency call.
